Known rake Lord Julian's father has demanded that Julian find a respectable wife or he will lose his inheritance. Lady Sarah is just what he needs but she has plans of her own. She wants her freedom and if she must marry it will be for love.I have to admit that I got a little annoyed with Sarah , she was just a little too uptight for me. She does warm up however and how could she not with Julian pursuing her! I just loved Julian and was totally lost about his father's behavior , it seemed like he just hated him. I was also aggravated that Julian's mother didn't call out his father on being such a jerk. My favorite part was all the entertaining banter between Julian and Sarah. It was also lovely seeing Amelia again (Scandalous Endeavors) , it's always fun catching up with loved characters from the series. There is also an excerpt for the next book, so excited
Sweet Traditional Historical Romance ~ Waiting for the next in this wonderful series!

One of the most intreging reads I've got my hands on this year! Hope the author continues producing.
I loved this story about a woman trying to life her life on her own terms while keeping her reputation in tack.
Great book!!! I love v how she doesn't back out on him!!! Can't wait for the next book!
This book is so much better than the first book in the series. In that one the story jumped ahead with leaps and bounds leaving out information that would have made the story flow so much better. The author seems to have learned from mistakes in that book since this one does not have those problems. The story is simple but it does not have the h doing stupid things and both the H and h seem to be rather intelligent people.
The H, Julian, is told by his father, a Duke, that he must marry a respectable woman before the end of the month or loose his father's financial support. It is never explained why he has to do it immediately, just that the father thinks it is time for the H to settle down. I expected to learn the father was dying or something but nothing like that ever happened. The H's age is never given either, that I can remember, but his father treats him like a misbehaving child. He acts like an adult in other situations so it must be assumed he is a mature adult. He has a history of being a rake but no rakish behavior occurs in the book.
The h, Sarah, is the best friend of the h, Amelia, from the first book. She plans to only marry for love so she is not interested in the H when he suddenly starts paying attention to her, because she assumes that he is simply being the rake everyone thinks he is. She is intent on keeping her good reputation and does not want to risk being associated with the H.
For the first part of the story the H pursues her and the h flees his presence whenever she can. Unfortunately her mother thinks she should be honored to have a Duke's heir interested in her; and her good friend, the Duchess of Abernathy, also likes the H and encourages the h to give him a chance. Her feelings for the H change when she meets his father, the Duke. He is forthcoming to the point of rudeness assuming the h will marry his son. It is refreshing to see the H stand up to his father as he corrects his father by explaining he hasn't even asked the girl to marry him yet, and again at a gathering of the families later in the story. Both the h and the H are concerned about being honest with each other so the plot isn't muddied with stupid lies that lead to irritating melodrama.
As one would expect in a romance eventually they both fall in love with each other but are afraid to risk rejection by being the first to say so. This leads to minor misunderstandings so the h can have a fit of temper and run off to her friend, Amelia, and get to her house in time to help deliver her first child. There is a nice epilogue where everything is tied up nicely.
There is one sex scene that occurs after marriage and it is not too detailed or long. That makes it not a "clean" story, but besides that it is a charming romance with a HEA ending. As in the first book, there are some typos and words that I think were used incorrectly--the kind of thing a spell check program would miss; but they do not detract from the story very much. Maybe "trunks" in the Regency were sometimes called "trucks"? That may have been in the first book, I read both of them today. They are very fast reads.
Another great book by Amanda.
Sweet story of finding true love.
Can't wait for next book in series.
Highly recommend!
I bought this book to take with me to the Bahamas. The weather was hot and humid and believe me, this read made the beach...hotter. It is a wonderful tale of love with a lot of sexual intrigue...I'm still fanning myself. I highly recommend this lovely journey between Julian and Sara. Don't leave home without it.
Once again a great story by this author . I just love this story and can recommend this story with a honest heart
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
